Coderus is pleased to have Kara Thurkettle join us as our new senior marketing consultant. Kara will be managing junior team members and will be helping Coderus transform its business strategy in order to increase brand awareness and organic visibility in order to drive leads.
Although I’ll be working with a variety of channels across the company, I’ll primarily be managing the CSR, PR and SEO strategies. I started working at Coderus last week and I’m really loving it. Mark and Nick have given me a lot of creative freedom regarding strategy and have been really supportive of the stuff I have already started proposing and currently I’m working on creating templates for our marketing processes and documentation as well as working with the rest of the marketing team to create user personas, goals and brand guidelines for the company. This is to ensure that we are starting our overall business and marketing strategies with a strong foundation.
Kara has a Bachelors Degree in Public Relations and a minor in Psychology from Western Michigan University in the United States and has been living in the United Kingdom since 2016. In the U.K. she has worked for two award-winning companies including Prominent PR and StrategiQ and her experience ranges from international e-commerce brands to charities and small local businesses. Basically, there is no industry she hasn’t worked in and we are excited to see what she will do for the Coderus brand.
I wanted to work for Coderus for a few reasons. I’ve known Mark, the CEO, for over a year and really admire who he is as a person and his involvement in the local community, as well as his investment in young people, is really inspirational to me. For me, I also wanted to work somewhere that had values that aligned with my own personal values and Coderus’ core values really resonated with me. However, more importantly, I was able to actively see these being upheld and that was crucial when I decided to make the move to Coderus.
In her spare time, Kara has quite a few hobbies. When she’s just looking to chill out she enjoys watching films and shows – particularly those with complex stories or layered characters because as someone who studied psychology, she likes to attempt to predict plots and behaviours.
If she’s feeling a bit creative, she makes jewellery, designs clothing and paints. Her favourite hobbies though are boxing and pole fitness, although both have been difficult to do in lockdown.
