On the evening of its official launch back on the 24th November 2017, the Creative Computing Club was welcomed with open arms by the local community, including by Coderus CEO Mark Thomas who had a long-term interest in supporting local tech firms, start-ups and enterprises that engaged and inspired the next generation of tech leaders and innovators.
It is from this moment on, back in 2017 that Mark Thomas had developed a growing interest and passion for Founder Matthew Applegate’s new pledge to help Suffolk youngsters from low income families learn vital tech skills. We are now excited to announce that Coderus is an official patron and sponsor of the Creative Computing Club and we just couldn’t wait to share the news with you!
Along with Bill Thompson from the BBC and Andy Payne OBE from ESA, Mark Thomas made a guest speech at the official launch of CCC and made it known that the local enterprise would have his full support. Now Mark Thomas is an official patron and sponsor of the Creative Computing Club and is responsible for helping to spread awareness of the incredible work that they do for the community.
What is the Creative Computing Club Charitable Foundation?
In 2017 Matthew Applegate launched his charity Creative Computing Club which pledged to help Suffolk youngsters from low income families learn vital tech skills by providing the necessary learning environment and equipment.
He began his journey by raising funds to buy computers for youngsters between 11-12 from disadvantaged backgrounds teaching them skills such as programming to give them a head start in their careers.
Having worked for leading tech companies Nintendo, Sony and Apple in the past, Founder Matthew Applegate had already had lots of experience in the tech industry, with an impressive record of building seven clubs and working with around 105 young people in Suffolk.
