Innovate Suffolk
At Coderus, we put innovation at the heart of everything we do, not just internally, but everywhere we go. Because of this, we have partnered and sponsored leading Innovate Suffolk events, including the annual 24-Hour Hackathon, to support our local community, inspire tech innovation and foster long-term partnerships within the industry.
What is Innovate Suffolk?
Innovate Suffolk is a non-profit organisation led by a group of tech-minded innovators. Through events and networking, they help connect people, communities and resources to solve real-world problems, build long-term, viable collaborations and nurture scalable businesses across the county. Their first-ever event was a 48-hour start-up hackathon focused on mental health.
The group focuses on championing the county’s diverse group of people working in the technology, gaming, film and creative industries.
Each year, Innovate Suffolk runs the region’s fastest-growing hackathon, where individuals from across the county team up and bring their tech ideas to life over 48 hours.
The aim of the hackathon is to create, prototype and test a solution for a specified challenge and develop a viable product to take to market. The winners are rewarded financially and are given direct access to opportunities that will bring their idea to life and accelerate its production.
These events are a great way to develop the community, learn new skills and can even offer the opportunity to develop a product or idea after the Hack has finished and see it become a real business opportunity.
How has Coderus helped Innovate Suffolk?
Coderus has helped to fund and sponsor Innovate Suffolk events right from the organisation’s beginnings, working in conjunction with Fortis Recruitment and Matrixx to build and form what Innovate Suffolk is today. We are proud to be a part of its growth and will continue to support the cause for the foreseeable future by sponsoring events, recruiting for new members and participating in the annual hackathon. We even had one of our very own developers with the first edition of the annual event!
We were delighted to announce our sponsorship of the 2019 hackathon, which dealt with the topic of mental health, alongside IJYI, Banbury Howard, Suitcase TV, Hays, Matrixx and the University of Suffolk. The event aimed to make a real difference and to create support for overcoming mental health challenges.
For this event, one of our in-house developers teamed up with a member of the StrategiQ Marketing family to launch their new mobile app, Stress Buddy, the aims of which are to help people recognise mental health triggers and offer useful support. We’re thrilled that the two become joint winners for this idea at the 2019 hackathon.
We continue to actively support Innovate Suffolk, as a founding member and participator of the annual hackathon. We look forward to the next Innovate Suffolk 48-Hour Hackathon which will be held this year, following the postponement of the 2020 event.
