Creative Computing Club
At Coderus we are committed to making a difference in the digital community, both locally and globally, which is why we continually support Suffolk-based Creative Computing Club. The community interest company organises weekend, school and private tutoring for eight to 16-year-olds in computer programming, video game design, hardware programming, electronics and robotics.
What is the Creative Computing Club?
The Creative Computing Club was first set up in 2012 to give young people, primarily 11 to 16-year-olds, the opportunity to learn new digital skills in a fun and informal learning environment.
Since then, the club has evolved to include weekend sessions, private tutoring, adult learning and teacher CPD training. The nationally recognised Creative Computing Club aims to be at the forefront of technology education, delivering an exceptional learning experience to all of its pupils.
Creative Computing Club founder, Matthew Applegate, has worked with several thousand young people across Suffolk, helping them to engage with technology-based activities and delivering high-quality education.
About the Founder
Matthew C. Applegate is an internationally renowned musician, educator, published academic author, video game designer, BAFTA award winner, Google Certified Innovator and PhD research student. He has delivered projects for and worked with Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, Samsung, the BBC, the World Health Organisation, the Cabinet Office, UK Parliament and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
How has Coderus supported the Creative Computing Club?
Coderus has been supporting the Creative Computing Club since early 2017. Our sponsorship of the charitable foundation helps to raise the funds necessary to give more young people across the county access to technology. This involves a wide variety of events and workshops engaging with the county to inspire the next generation of innovators.
We have also collaborated with the Creative Computing Club to provide 300 reusable travel mugs to the Bergholt Ward at Ipswich Hospital for children on the ward and we have plenty more partnerships on the horizon.
Since the beginning, our CEO, Mark Thomas, a Patron of Creative Computing Club, has built a strong rapport with the Founder of the Creative Computing Club, Matthew Applegate – working on projects such as the introduction of the annual Suffolk EdTech events which brings the local tech community together.
