We provided 300 travel mugs, enabling families and carers to enjoy a cuppa when visiting loved ones.
Bergholt Ward at Ipswich hospital is an amazing place, devoted to looking after the children in its care. Keeping children safe is naturally the highest priority, so as a preventative measure, no hot drinks are allowed onto the ward unless they are in a sealed container. This can mean many carers go repeated visits without a much-needed cuppa. Members of the Coderus team had experienced this themselves when visiting loved ones, prompting Coderus CEO Mark Thomas to come up with a solution: to donate 300 reusable mugs.
The plastic mugs, with screw-on lids, allow drinks to be taken safely into the ward, and as of now, will be available for parents and carers to use when they visit.
We are a software development company, but we make every effort we can to give back to the community in which we live and work. We’d like to give special thanks to Corporate and Trust Fundraising officer, Catrina Copping, and her volunteers, for collecting the mugs from our Adastral Park HQ and delivering them to the hospital, where, after visiting, we can see they are being put to good use.

The colourful mugs are printed with the Creative Computing Club logo, a local charity aiming to help underprivileged children in the Ipswich area gain access to tech. Matthew Applegate, who runs the charity, spent time on the ward when his son had appendicitis and was really grateful for the hard work of every member of staff during that time. Matt was very happy to contribute to the donation, which will raise awareness of his charitable efforts, while also helping with another admirable cause.
The Coderus mugs will make a big difference to parents and carers. With children often on the ward for days on end, being able to have a nice cup of tea can be a real comfort. Thank you Coderus.
